What this work addresses

  • Repeated pinhole leaks, each one in a different place
  • Grey or black plastic supply pipe, common in Florida homes built between the late 1970s and mid 1990s
  • An insurer asking what supply pipe the house has before renewing
  • Water pressure that has dropped across the whole house rather than at one fixture
  • Discoloured water at more than one fixture
  • A house you are buying, or selling, where the pipe material is a question

What's included

  • Identifying what supply pipe the property actually has
  • Whole-home repiping in single-story and two-story homes, condos and apartments
  • Polybutylene supply line replacement
  • Replacing old copper supply lines with PEX
  • Partial repipes where only one run has failed and the rest is sound
  • Keeping drywall access openings as small as the job allows

What we don't do

  • We replace supply pipe. Drain and sewer lines are a separate job with separate costs, and we will say so rather than fold them in quietly.
  • Drywall patching, texture matching and painting after a repipe are finishing trades. We keep access openings as small as the job allows and tell you what will need closing up.
  • We will not tell you a house needs a full repipe when it does not. If one run has failed and the rest is sound, that is what we will quote.

From the first call to the next step

  1. Tell us the age of the house and what you are seeing. If you know the pipe material, say so; if not, that is the first thing we establish.
  2. A technician confirms the pipe material and the condition of the system, rather than assuming from the build year.
  3. You get the real options, partial or whole-home, with what each costs and how long the water will be off, before any work starts.
  4. The work is scheduled, completed and pressure tested.

Where we work

Common questions

How do I know if I have polybutylene pipe?

It is usually grey, sometimes black or blue, flexible rather than rigid, and often stamped PB2110. The easiest places to look are at the water heater, under sinks, or near the main shut-off. If you are unsure, a technician can confirm it in a few minutes.

Why does polybutylene matter in Florida?

It was widely installed in homes built from the late 1970s to the mid 1990s, and it degrades from the inside where you cannot see it. That means failures tend to arrive as a sudden leak rather than a slow drip. Insurers increasingly ask about it.

Do I have to repipe the whole house?

Not always. If one run has failed and the rest of the system is sound, a partial repipe can be the right call. If the pipe is failing generally, patching it run by run usually costs more over a couple of years than doing it once.

How long does a repipe take and will I have water?

It depends on the size of the property and how accessible the runs are. We will tell you the expected schedule, and how long the water will be off, before the work starts, not during it.

Will my insurance cover it?

Policies differ. Many will not cover replacing the pipe itself but care a great deal about whether it has been replaced. Ask your insurer what they need to see, and we will tell you exactly what we replaced.

What warranty comes with the work?

We stand behind our workmanship with a one-year labor warranty. Warranties on equipment and materials follow the manufacturer's coverage. If you have a question about work we did, call the office.

Do you offer financing?

Yes. When an estimate is over $1,000, we can send a financing option along with it. Ask the office about it.
