Estero sits between Fort Myers and Bonita Springs, an easy drive down from our shop. We installed a whole-house water purification system for one single-family home here. For another, in an HOA community, we ran a 20-foot gas line from the meter to a new gas grill. We added an isolation valve so the grill can be shut off on its own.
What changes the plumbing here
- Two water suppliers, split at Williams Road
- Lee County Utilities supplies water to properties north of Williams Road. Bonita Springs Utilities supplies properties south of it. Knowing which one serves your home is the first question when you are choosing water treatment.
- Septic to sewer near the Estero River
- The Village is moving properties off septic and onto the Lee County Utilities sewer system, with a focus on flood-prone areas, to protect the Estero River. In 2026 it has also been working to move older communities off privately run package plants and onto central sewer.
- Gas and plumbing work needs a permit
- The Village requires a building permit to install, alter, repair or replace any gas or plumbing system regulated by the Florida Building Code. Ask whether a permit applies before gas line or plumbing work starts.
- Ian hit west of US 41 hardest
- The Village reported that about 1,000 homes in Estero were drastically affected by Hurricane Ian in 2022, with communities west of US 41 hit hardest. If your home took on water then and plumbing problems keep turning up, it is worth having it looked over.
