What changes the plumbing here
- Sewer and water can come from different utilities
- FGUA runs the Del Prado sewer plant, which serves a large section of North Fort Myers known as Waterway Estates. FGUA lists about 11,920 sewer customers in its North Fort Myers service area but only about 1,085 water customers. So for many homes, sewer comes from one utility and water from another.
- A neighborhood is moving off septic
- FGUA plans to move about 253 single-family homes in one North Fort Myers neighborhood off septic and onto central sewer, to cut nutrient pollution in the Caloosahatchee Estuary basin. FGUA says the project cost includes connecting owners to the new sewer main. Its mid-2026 update expected a design contract by July 2026.
